Why does SDXHELPER.EXE keep causing my computer to freeze?

I've trace my computer freezing to an office program called SDXHELPER.EXE. Several times a day it consumes 100% of CPU for 20-30 seconds. I've tried using programs like process lasso to force it to nice down, but they don't really work.

Can someone tell me 1) what sdxhelper.exe is doing? and 2) what I can do to get it to stop cpu spiking?

I'm using Windows 10 Pro, it's patched to the latest version, and I keep my hardware drivers patched monthly.

run an inplace repair of office

Tried this. Did not work. Still having SDXHELPER.exe causing the system to freeze for 10-60 seconds at a time.
