    Hi emma,

Thanks for your precious time, based on your feedback, this "No Response" is actually that the file was not opened but Excel was opened, given that other files can be opened normally, the problem is most likely caused by this file.

If you don't mind, I'd like to collect this file from you to test and find out the cause.

Please check Private Message and share this file with me, and DO NOT post directly in the community.

    Hi emma,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, according to the screenshots you provided, the file contains some external data and connections, it may take a while to update the data.

Could you indicate that what happened after you clicked the Update button? Did it become No Response or crash directly? You can monitor Excel running status by monitoring Task Manager.

In order to narrow down the cause, could you please check and provide the following information?

    1.     Save it in OneDrive, and then check if it can be opened via Office online, and what prompts will appear when opening.

    2.     Can other Excel files be open normally?

    3.     Open Excel in Safe Mode, and then check if the file can be opened in safe mode.

Thanks for posting in this community, please feel free to give me feedback and I'll continue to help you.

    Best Regards,

    Arck
