Using Drag and Drop in Excel on MacBookpro

A slightly unimportant issue but slightly annoying if nothing else.

When moving cell contents by drag and drop, why is a bottom border inserted in the original cell?  This does not occur if I copy and paste or cut and paste the cell content.

    Thanks for your advice.

I have been using a spreadsheet showing my monthly expenses to keep an eye on my spending etc.  I have been using the same base sheet for about 5 years now.  for each new month I have created a basic blank standard sheet by creating a copy before the existing sheet, deleting unneeded transactions from it and entering new data. (The existing monthly sheet is then copied into a sheet containing all the previous months for a particular year.

I think that somewhere in the past, possibly in 2016, one of these copied sheets has had the "fault"in it for some reason.  This has then been forwarded on to future sheets being used.

I have now created a new sheet for next month (October) which looks like it will be functioning correctly. I have tried a couple of sample entries and the drag and drop seems to be working correctly.

Why the issue began is beyond me, but I am pleased to say the annoyance has been overcome (I hope).

    Dear MALCOLMSMITH7,

Please ignore the reply from Akiva, I think his post is irrelevant with your concern.

I've performed the related test under the Office for Mac version 16.28(190812) and here is my test result:

As you can see, if I use drag & drop, it won't add a bottom line for the original cell, thus I think it should be an issue related with your specific environment. Please check the following methods to narrow down on this issue:

1.Please share us a screenshot on your Excel for Mac version and MacOS version. We will perform the test under the same environment as yours.

2.Please check if the issue persist under a new Excel workbook?

3.Have you installed any add-ins for your Excel? If so, please temporary disable them.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Regards,

    Alex Chen
