Auto-mapping not working for Shared Mailbox created in the cloud

Hi,

We currently use Azure AD Connect to sync our AD users and groups to Office 365/Azure. If we create a user in our on-premises AD and let it sync up, then convert it to a shared mailbox, auto-mapping seems to work for users who are given permissions to that mailbox, or at least we can manually make it work by setting the "msExchDelegateListLink" attribute on the shared mailbox in AD. For Shared Mailboxes created in the cloud however, these are not automatically mapped in Outlook for users who have full permissions, and Shared Mailboxes created in the cloud don't sync to on-premises AD, so I can't manually set "msExchDelegateListLink".

Is there anyway to have a Shared Mailbox created in the cloud be automatically mapped for users synced via Azure AD Connect?

Thanks for the reply Rudy. I tried again and this time had success. Perhaps I didn't wait long enough last time? Odd. Good to have confirmation none-the-less that shared mailboxes created in the cloud should automatically map for "synced" users with cloud mailboxes.

Cheers,

Tom

    Hello Tom,

Glad to hear everything works well now. Maybe the time isn't long enough to let the shared mailbox display.

Can I know what else we can do for you further please?

    Have a nice time.

    Regards,

    Rudy

    Hello Wardrop19,

Your above two scenario two scenarios are described correct. For the cloud created Shared mailbox, based on my test, seems that the shared mailbox will be auto-mapped. The detailed test steps as follows:

    1. Create a shared mailbox in Office 365 admin center.
    2. Add a local AD synced user to that shared mailbox.
    3. Add that synced AD user to the Outlook client in a new profile.
    4. Restart Outlook client.

So can I know if we are using the same steps to reproduce this case please? Please let us know your steps for us to test it again.

Meanwhile, let us know the detailed Outlook version: Go to File > Office Account > About Outlook.

    Regards,

    Rudy
