Reinstalling OneNote 2016

I installed OneNote 2016 on my computer and resized the page panel. In an attempt to restore the panel’s initial size, I uninstalled OneNote. But, it will not reinstall. I am using this file. I have the 64-bit version of Office 365 installed.

Hi WadsDeirder,

We test to download the OneNote 2016 in the link you provided, we found that the name of this product is Microsoft OneNote Home and Student 2016. The Product Information will be Microsoft OneNote Home and Student 2016 if we open it on a new PC which doesn’t have Office 365 ProPlus. 

If you found that you cannot install OneNote 2016 even though it shows install finished, we suggest you follow the steps of Option 1 inthis article to uninstall and reinstall OneNote 2016, to check if you can install successfully or not. The product you need to remove in Control Panel is Microsoft OneNote Home and Student 2016.

In addition, you can use ODT to deploy OneNote 2016 in Office suite, you can kindly referthis article to follow the steps. You can use OCT to add OneNote 2016 in your configuration file then to install it.

Last, in this article, it says Starting in March 2020, when you install Office 365 or Office 2019, the OneNote desktop app will be installed alongside the Word, PowerPoint, and Excel desktop apps.

    OneNote 2016 reinstalled successfully after I uninstalled the Microsoft OneNote 2016 Home and Student item. The page panel size remained unchanged. Thank you for the suggestion, Ivy.

    Only the Universal Windows Platform version of OneNote appears. When the installer is run, it gets to the state of stating that the Office product is “fully installed.” But, it is clearly not installed. I might be forced to use the system restore on this one.

    You cannot remove an individule 365 suite component.

    What shortcuts are shown if you type OneNote in the Cortana search?
