I am using excel on the browser and trying to sum a column. The formula I am using is " =SUM(B3:B14) " and the result is zero, howver I know the answer is a non-zero positive number. The cell format is in "Number." All of the advice I have found online is for the desktop app.

    Hi Caroline87sry,

Thanks for providing the example workbook.

I find a strange thing in this workbook, please kindly see the screenshot below:

    1.       Whatever decimal places settings I set, it only shows the integer number like 6, 5, 10.

    2.       When I click into the cell, put the mouse after the number, then press “Delete” button to clear something, then the number will show fine with the decimal settings. Then the number can be calculated fine with the formula.

I think, we need to check where the data source is from. I assume the data is not created by typing manually. For example, it is from any data query or something else? If this is the case, we may find the root cause.

    Regards,

    Rena

    Hi Caroline87sry,

It works fine by my side. See the screenshot below

Does the issue only happen to this specific workbook or all workbooks online?

If the issue only happens to the specific one, you can try:

    1.       Create a new sheet, then copy and paste pure value then use formula to see the result.

    2.       Create a new workbook, then copy and paste pure value then use formula to see the result.

If the issue happens to all the workbooks, or if the steps above can’t help you, please:

    1. Clear browser caches or change another browser to see the result.
    2. Can you tell us whether it works fine when you choose to open the file in client app?
    3. Please share the example workbook with us (without privacy). For the steps to share file, please refer to Share OneDrive files and folders and create “Anyone with the link can edit” shared link. I will send a private message (this link) to collect the shared link and test more to investigate further.

    Thanks,

    Rena
