Scraping Data from Web Queries with password using the "Get Data" tab

Hello,

I need some help understanding the new query system. My company just upgraded our Excel 2013 to the Office 365 Excel and I do not know how to scrape data from the website I work with anymore.

Previously, when you selected to create a web query, you would type the URL and then it would send you to the website. I would be able to log on into the website and then navigate through it and select data tables I needed with the use of yellow arrows. Then once I selected that I would just click import, and that would be that. If I wanted to refresh the data, I would just right click the data query, click Edit Query, the screen with the website would show up and ask me to log in, I log in, and then click refresh.

Now when I go to the Get Data from Web section, a form appears asking basic and advanced, basic just inserting the IP address and advanced having some extra things that I don't know how to use. I use basic, paste the URL and click OK. Now it brings me to a screen with table view and web view. Nothing is available because you need to log onto the site. I click web view and it shows me the log in screen. BUT, it is only a screenshot preview. I can not interact with it or log on to it. I watched videos on how to load the data with this new tool, so I now how to put the data into excel, but I can not access this data because of the log in required.

I would like to know how I can navigate through sites with these new tools (to log in to the site to get to the data to extract) like I was able to do with the previous excel versions please.

Thank you

Allen

    Hi Allen,

Sorry for the inconvenience it has caused.

If the site requires log in, you can use the legacy get data from web by search it in the search box:
