Problem installing older version after newer version failed

We have a Volume License. We just ordered Office Profession Plus 2019. As is my normal procedure, I attempted to load 2019 on my system. It required that I remove Office Professional Plus 2016 before installing. The install of 2019 failed, multiple times, so I gave up and attempted to load 2016 back on. which now, also fails with this error:

1: 1935 2: {38313D16-787D-4A31-99E9-FD8343954612} 3: 0x80131049 4: IAssemblyCacheItem 5: Commit 6: Policy, 14.0.Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Dao, fileVersion="15.0.4420.1017", version="15.0.0.0000000", culture="neutral", publicKeyToken="71E98CE111E9429C", processorArchitecture="MSIL"

I have run the Office Removal tool, manually edited the registry thru regedit, manually deleted the folders on the c drive. Ran system file checker, and the error checking utility. I tried to run the installer in compatibility mode for Windows 7. (I am running Windows 10 Pro 64) I would have tried the Windows restore feature, but it did not have a restore point from before I tried to install OPP 2019.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ok, I continued on my search and found two things that I had not tried.

    1. "Right before the install fails, it checks this key, which my other machine didn't have at all.  It seems to be something related to apps installed through the store (this had 365 which was uninstalled previously).  I simply renamed the key and the install worked fine."
    2. Run the .Net repair tool

I did both of these at the same time, so not sure which worked, of it required both to work. Either way, I finally was able to get Office 2016 to install.

    Thank you!

    Hi Lance

Try using revouninstaller to make sure any existing installation is fully removed. I noticed it does a better job.
