Sharepoint - why no "Tree View"?

Microsoft seems to be making it harder and harder (now impossible, I think) to get a hierarchical ("tree") view of the folders and subfolders and documents in a Sharepoint library.  I think perhaps they are trying to force people to use "metadata" instead, but I personally am not interested in that.  The concept of a hierarchy is extremely simple and valuable and that's what I want.  Is there any way to do this with Sharepoint?

Dear Nacnudddd,

The Tree View feature should work in SharePoint Online. Please check if you enable it via clicking on Site Settings>Navigation Elements under Look and Feel>check Enable Tree View. If no do that to see the result. Meanwhile, check whether the issue happens in a specific site. Welcome to upload some screenshots showing the issue in your environment for our clarification.
