Once I try to open some word documents with file extension .lock, it keeps showing the file conversion box.

What should I do to have them open properly?

The .lock extension is discussed at https://fileinfo.com/extension/lock, but it is more likely that this is caused by a ransomware virus: https://www.2-spyware.com/remove-lock-file-extension-virus.html or https://sensorstechforum.com/remove-lock-files-virus/
