Not enough memory or disk space

I recently upgraded to Office 2019 for the Mac on my new iMac with 32GB of RAM and 577 GB of available disk space. I tried to open a document I have used many times in the past with Word 16.32, and received a message that "There is not enough memory or disk space to display or print the picture." The message refers to a picture within the document. The error message is ridiculous of course, but I can't seem to find a way around it. And I need to use this document for a presentation in 10 days. An internet search has turned up questions about this issue for many years, but I can't seem to find a solution. Any help appreciated.

Hi MarkRougeux,

According to your description, when you open the word document, you received an error message” There is not enough memory or disk space to display or print the picture.”

Here are some suggestions, and I hope these can help you:

1. Try safe mode to exclude local environment impact. You can launch a safe mode/boot on Mac OS, to check if issue caused by cache or directory issue with startup disk.

2. You can also try to switch to a new Mac user account . sometimes issue is caused by a specific corrupt user profile.

3. You can find folder like ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.word ( you can press command +shift +G and enter the route to go the folder), then cut&paste the folder to the Desktop( if something wrong happen you can put this folder back to Containers), restart the Mac. This can remove corrupt caches of the app.

If the problem has not been resolved, please provide some information for further investigation:

  1. Are other Office applications happening? Test other Office applications, such as Excel.
  2. Does this error pop up after you open the file successfully? Or does it fail to open the file at all?
  3. Your MacOS version.

Best regards,

April

Is the error still persist when you try copy paste and save as new file name?

Also confirm the error only for this file?

One more thing, the error on safe mode?

If all these steps not working, could you try with the previous installation package?
