Footnote numbering problem when converting Pages document to Word

I need to convert a document with a lot of footnotes from the Pages software on my Mac to Word. The problem is that when I export the document to Word, the Arabic numerals on the footnotes automatically convert to Roman numerals. I need Arabic numerals! What do I do?

All you can try in Word is;

1. Go to Insert> Footnote
2. Select the preferred Number format
3. Click Apply

That may or may not correct the issue.

Not to pass the buck, but if Pages is outputting the document incorrectly it would be best to contact Apple Support. They should be able to address any problem with their software.
