Want to embed the same Excel file into a ppt to read and reflect table updates on different slides. i.e. The Excel file has formulas to generate an Average value from different sections. Each section is shown on a separate ppt slide. I tried to paste link the Excel table on different slides but when changes come, there is no synchronization and the ppt slides are not linked to a single Excel files.

Any clues are appreciated.

To link an Excel table to PowerPoint slides:

    1. Select the table in Excel and copy it.
    2. In PowerPoint, choose the Home tab, click on the bottom half of the Paste button and choose Paste Special.
    3. Select the Paste link option, then select Microsoft Office Binary Worksheet Object and click on OK. The table is pasted.

To update the linked table, right-click on it and choose Update link. You should also see an Update links button in a Security Notice dialog after closing and reopening the presentation.

    Hi again,

Is there a way to create on one slide a chart that read data from another slide so that the chart is updated once the data is changed?

Update the worksheet portion on one slide, then go to the next slide, right-click on the pasted link and choose Update Link to update the portion displaying there. If you have created links to the Excel spreadsheet, the second and later slides will update.

If you have done a simple paste, the worksheet is embedded, not linked, and the worksheet section cannot update each other.

    Thanks John

Some input was missing here. The table has to be updated from within PowerPoint so that the table is showing multiple sections but on different slides. Using the above method, The table is pasted on one slide but its data cannot be link to another slide so that the average of the two slides is updated when altering the sections on each slide.

    Thanks again
