Hi,

We are trying to open a spreadsheet in excel (app) but we are getting an error message, see below.

We are able to open online and edit. The workbook is stored in sharepoint.

I have logged out of sharepoint and excel (app) and logged back in but the issue is still happening.

Please can you advise what to do?

Thanks,

Carly

    Hi Carly,

    Thanks for your quick feedback.

Base on your reply, I have several methods for you to improve your Excel client when issue happen:

1.Click File > Account > Update Options to update Office 365 to latest version(1908).

    1. Try Excel in the Safe Mode(Hold Ctrl when open app) to determine whether background programs are interfering with Excel.

3.If the issue only occur in the specific workbook, download it and upload again in SharePoint Online, see if you can open it in app.

    Regards,

    Eric

    Hi Eric,

    In answer to your questions

1.The error message pop up when you open workbook form Excel client or SharePoint online? Check if the issue happen on both side. - it appears to only be happening on the Excel (app) not when it is opened online

2.If the same behavior happen on all workbooks in SharePoint Online or this specific workbook? - A specific workbook. I should also point out that the workbook is used by multiple users and there is no other access issue at this point in time.

3.What's your version number of Excel. Please capture a screenshot of your File > Account page. (Please mask personal information on the screenshot to protect your privacy). - We are running under Office365

    Thank you for your time

    Carly
