Sync option - missing

Hello,

We want to sync some document libraries using OneDrive sync, the sync button is no longer on any of our document libraries, if I create a new sub-site and copy a document library to that then the sync button appears but obviously this isn't a practical fix.

I've checked the advanced properties of the doc libraries and they are all allowing offline content.......

Thanks in advance

David

    Hi David,

Sorry for the inconvenience, but unfortunately I cannot repro the issue you met on my test SharePoint site, and the sync icon display normally on the ribbon.

First, did you sync files in this site before? And is there a Sync icon before?

If yes, I think your local OneDrive sync client would sync them automatically once launched, you could open it to solve the current problem.

If no, I think the site may be a project site or has using Project sites template.(Or perhaps other classic templates), which won't show a Sync icon on the ribbon.

Additionally, some issues may only affect modern experience but not classic one, so I suggest you go to the document library to switch to classic mode first.

If there's no button to do so directly on the site, you can then go to Settings(the gear icon in the top-right corner)->Library settings –> Advanced settings –>Change the option in the list experience from New to Classic experience as shown in the image below.

By doing so you’re switching back to previous document library experience. And then please go back to see if there's a sync option.

If the problem remains, please feel free to post back, and we need a screenshot of the document library page( please remove PII)

    Best Regards,

    Oliver

    Hello,

We want to sync some document libraries using OneDrive sync, the sync button is no longer on any of our document libraries

    Hi David,

Based on your description, all document libraries in this site have no sync button now, right?

I did some tests and only one could match the scenario you met:

The site's setting for offline content is off.

In this situation, even when you turn on Allowing offline content in library settings, the sync button won't appear.

For reference, you can view this page:

Disable or Hide Sync Button at SharePoint Online Site and Document Libraries Level

So I suggest you consult it with the Office365 admin of your organization first, if the problem remains, please let the admin open a support ticket from Office 365 admin center.

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue and we have limited resource on this issue. And support ticket in admin center would get more resource involved for troubleshooting.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Oliver
