Word just crashed without warning.

This happened a month ago too. Just completely disappears. And when I restart it doesn't offer any recovered docs, as though it's unaware there's been a problem. I know though because it's lost all changes I made to the doc today - even though the doc is supposedly syncing with OneDrive. Event viewer seems to have logged something unrelated to Word at the time. But if it's a hardware problem I don't see why all other applications stayed up and why no saving had been done for a while, though Autosave is always on. Screenshot of Event Viewer follows

People do report various issues due to Onedrive. But once in a month kind of issue has not been reported.

    Hello V.

The problem last happened about a month back. I can't work in safe mode for possibly another month or more while waiting for the problem to repeat itself. I don't have add-ins that I know of - except the OneDrive sync saving function. This had stopped saving to OneDrive several hours before the crash so I suspect it is linked with the problem. It's done this before, for no reason announcing very quietly in the top ribbon that 'upload failed'. Even when I'm in a 1GB bandwidth connection and everything else is connected and working. Have you come across any instances of the OneDrive sync getting in a funk and terminating Word?

    Hello Tommy

I am V. Arya, Independent Advisor, to work with you on this issue.

There is a possibility that an Add-in is creating problems. To test this hypothesis, start application in safe mode (How to - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/open-o... )

If you don't face the issue, then one of the add-ins will be the culprit. Now you can start application normally and you can disable all of them (File -- Options -- Add-ins) and enable them one by one and check to catch the culprit add-in.

Next option would be the usual repair to solve any issue with Office installation.

Press Windows key, hold it and press r to open Run window.

    Type appwiz.cpl and press enter

This will open Uninstall or change a program window

Click Office in the list of program

    Click Change at top

    Select Online repair

Restart your computer once Online repair is finished.

    Let me know the outcome.
