OneDrive Backing Up to Wrong Folder

I realized that my personal OneDrive sync client is backing up my local Documents folder to a Documents folder inside of another folder in OneDrive instead of the main Documents folder.  (I am not sure if the Documents subfolder existed before and it overwrote the contents or it created it inside the other folder.)  When I go to the settings for the OneDrive sync client, in the Backup tab > Manage Backup, I only have the option of turning off or on Documents backup.  How can I resolve this so it backs it up to a folder at the root level of OneDrive and not inside another folder?

Hello Ukimagic309

I am V. Arya, Independent Advisor, to work with you on this issue. Try resetting Onedrive

Windows Key+R > Copy the below and paste and Enter

%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

    Hello V. Arya,

Thanks for the response.  My OneDrive executable wasn't located there, so I ran

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe" /reset

Nothing changed, so I decided to rename both of the "Documents" folders in OneDrive (one was in the main folder and one was in a subfolder) to "Old_Documents".  I ran the reset command again (manually starting OneDrive) and a new "Documents" folder was created in the root of OneDrive and it's syncing my local documents there now. 👍

I'm just guessing that, originally, OneDrive didn't want to overwrite what was in my main OneDrive Documents folder so for it created it in a subfolder.

Thanks for helping me fix this!

    -Steve
