Planner comments disappearing

Anonymous

I have been having issues with several tasks in planner that I put comments on that I WILL receive them into my email box, but the next day the comments are no longer on the task. They just disappeared. This is happening on only certain tasks and plans, not all of them, so I can not find a reason that it is happening.

I had the same problem, adding comments to a task and then they are missing when you look again. I spent some time to try to isolate this, and it was extremely weird what I found. The comment problem occurred for me when I pasted in e-mail text as a comment. First I thought there may be a character limit, but it was stranger than that.

If I paste this in, the comment DOES NOT get saved - if you reload the planner page it is gone.

    However, this comment is saved:

    From Mickey Mouse

See the difference? I removed the colon after 'From'. If I put the colon after Mickey instead, that is fine too.

Surely that should help Microsoft debug this??

It would be lovely to think so, but just noticed that someone else found this 18 months ago....!!!!

And there's SO MANY people with this problem over 4 years:

Same issue here.. seems to happen most often when I try to copy and paste email discussions into the comments.  I'm wondering if there's a character limit placed on the comments field.

This is really aggravating and may force us to look for an alternative tool.  See below.  Comments were inserted for each one of these entries that are now showing as empty.  At first they saved, then later they disappeared.

No - they said that I would need to involve my IT because they don't see an issue on their side. I have lots of planner tasks open that do not go to the correct people and comments disappearing.

    Hi Mary,

Welcome to this forum and we are glad to help you.

When we add comments into tasks, it will create a conversation for them. We can find that conversation via clicking the ellipsis on the task page:

If we delete the conversation from outlook, all comments within it will be missing:

Please check if you can find the conversation for that task. Please have a try and share with me your outcome.

    Regards,

    Neo
