I have a table in Excel which I want to convert to text. I know there used to be a button on one of the table contextual ribbons that allowed this but now I only have a TABLE DESIGN ribbon and the TABLE TOOLS ribbon has gone.

Two questions:

  1. how do I convert my table to text
  2. where's the table tools ribbon gone?

    Try:-

     - right click the table

     - then, in the shortcut menu, click:-

    Table

    Convert to Range

    Does that work?

    Hi tjgariand,

Thanks for posting the query here in the community.

According to your question 1 “how do I convert my table to text”, in Excel 365 click anywhere in the table and then go to Table Tools> Design on the Ribbon in the Tools group, click Convert to Range. OR Right-click the table, then in the shortcut menu, click Table > Convert to Range

For your reference: Convert an Excel table to a range of data.

According to your question 2 “where's the table tools ribbon gone?” please the article below and see my image below to find Table tool ribbon in Excel 365 Where are the Table Tools?.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

It must have changed with Office 2019. Before there used to be two TABLE ribbons and the CONVERT TO RANGE function was on the far right. It looks like they've compressed everything into one ribbon now.
