OneDrive shared folder issue

Im using OneDrive with my work address, and recently had our funding organisation send me a link to a shared folder so that I can help my colleague, who also had access to this folder. When I click on the link, i can see the necessary olders and access them, but it doesn seem to be connected to by pre-existing OneDrive account, as i cant find the folders when searching through there; i can only access it through the link. 

I'm worried it's somehow created another account with my work email, as the profile circle in the corner is different than usual; normally it's a dark colour with JE in the middle, but in the shared folder it's a bright pink circle with just J in the middle.

Does anyone know what is going on? Is this normal?

Hi Joanne,

Per your description, I want to confirm that what’s the issue about this situation. You can access a link to a shared folder, you can see the files inside of it by clicking the link. However, you can’t find the files when you search in OneDrive.

I tested at my end, if the shared folder link from the different users in same tenant, the folder only shows in Shared tab after accessing it when it shared with Specific people link(need verify code). If it shared with Anyone with the link(can access folder directly), the folder can’t be seen in Shared tab in OneDrive. It can only access via share link.

If you are not in this situation, please provide the detailed information of this issue. If you let the sender shared the folder with Specific people to you, can you see the shared folder in OneDrive -> Shared tab? The information will help us to move further.
