Hi there,

I have an excel file that I'm working on which is located on a work drive. I hit save before closing the document, however, when I reopened it the following day, none of the data had actually saved. I checked the temporary files folder and there are no previous versions of the file to recover. How can this happen and how can i recover the lost information?

    Hi Jen,

Thank you for your swift response.

The thread you sent me deals with preventing this from happening in the future however does not describe a way to recover the information that has been lost.

    Hi Parker!

You may try the following steps:

    1. Open the file that you’d like to recover unsaved changes for, then open the File tab. Click Info > Manage Workbook.
    2. Click the resulting Recover Unsaved Workbooks button.
    3. Excel will open a File Explorer window that may contain some unsaved files. If you see any files, double-click to open them. You might be able to get some of your changes back.

You can also press Windows key + R to open the Run window, then type the following address and press Enter:

    C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles

    Hope this one helps.

    Best Regards,

    Jen :)

Or, You can also check out this folder to see if there are any useful files.

If you go to File > Options > Save, you’ll see the folder location of your AutoRecover files. Kindly see attached photo.
