Microsoft word has problems selecting text

Hi, Seth!

Not sure how much of a difference it is...but I'm not working with a Mac, I'm on a Windows 10 PC that's having the issue.  I've also tried the re-install and safe mode without success.

Crashes and other issues may be caused by problematic drivers, not just the video driver, although I would check that one first.

I'm assuming here that the issues aren't exclusively affecting Word.

I have tried in Safe Mode with no success. All available updates have been installed.  But, how would the video driver affect MS Word?

See if Word runs in Safe mode. For instructions, read the article at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Open-Office-apps-in-safe-mode-on-a-Windows-PC-dedf944a-5f4b-4afb-a453-528af4f7ac72.

If Safe mode works, the underlying issue is with the Normal template, with add-ins or with Word's registry entries. Try the following tests in order: (1) rename the Normal template, (2) troubleshoot COM and Startup add-ins, (3) delete registry entries. On the other hand, if Safe mode does not work around the issue, other issues must be considered, such as updating the video driver in Windows.

So, after more trial and error....I have installed MS Office 2019 on my laptop and after installation, MS Word crashes.  I then uninstalled it and installed MS Office 2016 and MS Word crashes in that version, as well.  It doesn't seem as if the software is directly the problem. Please advise.
