Corrupted word documents from editing on usb device

When I try to open a document that has been worked on while on a usb device, I get rapid and continuous tabs running across the screen and it doesn't shut down without closing the screen altogether.  I now know I should move documents to the computer for editing and then back to the usb when done, but is there a way to repair the documents?

Uninstalling and reinstalling Office is going to have absolutely no impact on the problem of a document that has become corrupted because it was saved to a USB drive.  Also, scanning the USB drive will be of no benefit as the problem is not with the USB drive itself, but with the fact that Word documents should NOT be saved directly to a USB drive.

If the document is not too large to attach to an email message, send me a copy of it that way, referencing this thread in the covering email message and I will see if I can recover anything from your document.

Alternatively, upload a copy of the document to the following folder of my OneDrive

and send me an email to the address shown in my signature to let me know that it is there.

Nothing works, because I can't successfully open Office 365.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it three times now and it still will not open correctly.  I also scanned the usb flash drive and it has no problems and is operating correctly.

I will try the repair first, but I can't get it to stay still enough to attach.  I will get it right to you if I can.  Thanks
