Weird problem with Excel between Mac and Windows

I am trying to share an Excel spreadsheet created on Mac with a colleague running Windows. When sending the file as an attachment to an e mail the attachment won't open on the recipient's Windows PC. The only way to open it seems to be for the recipient to open the message on her iphone and forward it to herself. Then she is able to open it on her PC. How do I ensure she can open the file without this ridiculous process? I've tried: changing the font, sending the file as a csv, but nothing seems to work. We're both running current versions of Excel, I'm using Mojave on my Mac and she is on Windows 10. I'd be very grateful for any help please.

It sounds like your colleague is in a network environment which controls email attachments from unrecognized sources. This seems to have nothing to do with Excel... Otherwise she would have the same problem on her iPhone as well as with the forwarded copy.

If that's the case, it will have to be addressed by the IT folks on her end.

Thanks Clark. The only problem with that is that the recipient will want to manipulate the numbers which she can't do with a pdf.

    Best wishes

    Hi MikePhillips9,

The Windows and Mac are different systems so that may be some features will different. So I suggest you save the spreadsheet as a PDF file then share it with your colleague to see the outcome.

    Regards,

    Clark

    Hi  Vijay

Thanks for the response. I've only tried the Zip idea but it doesn't work.

    Hi MikePhillips9

Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

You can zip the file and send it. Another alternative is to upload the file to Onedrive and share the link with the recipient.

Do let me know if you have any more question or require further help.
