Hello,

I recently had to repair my Office 365 product and now it wants me to sign in. I am using my school email to sign and then it wants me to change my password. This is the error message I am getting:

Update your password

You need to update your password because this is the first time you are signing in, or because your password has expired.

Something went wrong. Try again in a few minutes. If this doesn't work, contact your admin and report the following error: 50000.

When I click view details this is what I get:

Error Code: 50000

Please help!

Thank you

    Dear MissMegan7

You said that you are using your school email to sing in, as I understand your Office was provided to you by school ? Or you are using Office 365 Home ? Open Word or Excel and go to File > Account > Product information and please share what you see.

Also please share the screenshot of error message. In this thread you will find tips on how to insert screenshot into message https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for... Error 5000 is not a typical one. Also please mention the Office product that requires authorization. If you noticed after what exactly this started, please share your observations.

If you recently changed the password for the account, please make sure that you are putting the latest one.

Please make sure that you have VPN and Proxy disabled. If you are using 3d party AV and you have Windows 10 , please disable 3d party AV and enable Defender. And try again

This is for my home computer. Looks like I'll have to call Microsoft.
