Reset MSProject Text Styles

I inherited a project with tons of colors, etc.  I highlighted all text and just used the format font to change it all to black.

How can I reset the text styles back to original styles?

Shea Walls,

First, try selecting all tasks and then go to Task > Editing group > Clear > Clear formatting.

If that doesn't reset everything go to Format > Format group > Text Styles. If I remember correctly the default font is Calibri for "all" (Item to change).

Chances are the previous "artist" also had fun with the Gantt Bars. It's a bit tedious but the only way I know to reset Gantt Bars is to double click on each bar that looks "customized" and hit "Reset" in the Format Bar window that pops up.

If you really want to do a mass reset, you could reset the Project Global file. First find the active Global and move it to the trash (after closing Project). Then re-start Project. A new default Global will be created. Note, not only will you lose any custom formatting but you will also lose any custom views, view tables, filters, etc.

Hope this helps.

    Shea --

This is a really excellent question.  Assuming that all of the changes have been made to default views like Gantt Chart or Resource Sheet, the solution will be far easier than you might expect.  Here is how to do it:

    1. Apply a view that has formatting changes to it.
    2. Click the Task tab to display the Task ribbon.
    3. Click the Gantt Chart pick list button and select the Reset to Default item on the menu.
    4. When prompted in the warning dialog, click the Yes button.

These four steps will completely revert the view and table back to their original default settings.  You will need to do this to every default view in which formatting changes have been made.  Hope this helps.
