Microsoft Project not working

Hi,

I have recently been given a license through work to try MS Project. I'm the first (and only) person in the organisation to get it. When I try to open a new project it says:

We can't load your project

Return to Project Home to retry loading it.

The home button takes me back to the screen with '+New blank project', which then gives me that error. I can't go anywhere else. I've signed out and back in and restarted my PC. Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for waiting patiently.

After consulting the related resource, since you have Project Plan 1 license, so you can use Project for the web and create a new project. At the same time, we also have tested it on our side with Project Plan 1 trail license and we can setup Project and create a new project, we cannot reproduce the same situation as yours.

Since you have tried different browsers, however, this problem still persists, so this issue may be stuck of setting up Project. I do understand the inconvenience it has made and apologize for it. Per consulting the resources, given this situation, the best way to troubleshoot the issue is to report the issue to the related Team. I have sent you a Private Message, please click on the link for more information on this issue.

We also want to report this issue directly to the related team. However, we don’t have specific escalate channel to report this issue. As the side of Office 365 admin have access to report this issue to the related team, this is why we’d suggest you open a ticket directly. This is the best way and fast way to solve this issue.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Sukie

    Hi,

This is what the subscription page says:

    Project Plan 1

Common Data Service for Project P1

    Project P1

As far as I know that should give me access to the online version.

I have attached a screenshot of the error message. This happens when I press '+New blank project'. I can't do anything else from home, as I don't have previous projects or anything shared with me. I have never used project before, nor has anyone in my organisation. I have attempted to access it in Chrome and Edge and get the same result. Unfortunately we only have the one wifi router at my office so I can't try attaching to another one, and I'm not having issues with anything else online, including other MS products like PowerBI.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your message in this forum.

According to your description, it seems that you have Project license, however, when you opened a new Project, it says: We can't load your project Return to Project Home to retry loading it.

May I know if you are using Project Online? If so, you can go to Subscription to check if you have Project Online license. You mentioned “I have recently been given a license”, could you provide the detailed name of this license?

You can try another browser to check if the same problem will occur.

You can also change another internet environment to check if the same problem will occur. For example, you can change another Wi-Fi to check if the same problem will occur.

At the same time, to better understand your situation, could you provide the information below?

    1. May I know if you are using Project Online or Project client?
    2. Could you provide the screenshot of error message?
    3. May I know if you can access Project before?

    Best Regards,

    Sukie
