Lose embedded fonts when saving.

Hi.

When saving a document I lose all embedded fonts. I can confirm this by:

  • File size reduced substantially
  • Font data missing when looking in the file contents (as a zip archive)
  • Font not showing correctly when opened on a machine that doesn't have the font already installed

The current version is 16.27

Strangely this only affects one machine. When testing on two other machines with the same product, the file does not lose any of the embedded fonts and file size remains the same. One machine is updated to 16.27 the other is 16.26.

*Edit:

I've just tested in a new document and this machine does not embed the font even with the save options enabled.

When doing the same test on the machine with Word 16.26, it embeds the font properly - and retains it in subsequent saves. Used the same Google Font on both machines to test (Abril Fatface)

    Hi fnguyenAUS,

Thanks you for sharing this experience with us.

From your description, this issue only happens in a specific Mac with Word 16.27(Build 19071500).

(If your Word build number is not**19071500, please let us know)

To troubleshoot the issue, I would like to suggest you try following:

1.On the affected Mac, try rebooting Mac in safe mode to isolate issues that may caused by any add-ins, and see if that font Abril Fatface will lose when saving.

2.Is that font installed on the affected Mac? Does the issue happen if you reinstall the font?

3.As Abril Fatface is a third-party font, to troubleshoot if this issue only happens to this font, I suggest you try other Office build-in fonts or third-party fonts and see if issue still happens.

Besides, I would like to know information below for troubleshooting:

1.What is the OS version of the affected Mac and the working Mac?

2.Seems issue happens in different documents. Where are they saved?
