While using current Access software version (1908 ) to access old archive Access database something changed the resulted in a significant lost of date in all current access databases (From the date of last used of the archive data to the present)  It seem that there must be a setting in the Registry.  Is there any way to fix this?

In Access is either 1 or 0....either you have the data or not....

Older versions of Access are not supported but this should pop a message that is not supported...this is handled either by finding an older copy of Access or using my Article on EE :

    https://www.experts-exchange.com/articles/33729/Importing-Tables-from-Older-Unsupported-Access-databases.html

The way i see it ,because i have witnessed something "similar" years ago ...it was a bad setting in the backup application (Cobian )..it was trying to copy...failing due to permission, locked files and then the original copy was retained ...so no Archive....

IF it is the 2nd case i am afraid the data are gone ...especially if you have a single point of backup...Access at least to my knowledge hasn't got any special "hiding" feature that would retains records but in "stealth"

There is a small chance that you have some case of encoding (Users/Permissions) but i haven't ever used so i cannot advice...the only thing i know is that you can decode it via File Tab.

Unfortunately, that's not enough information to be able to offer suggestions.

" something changed" could be down to several things, including corruption of some sort. I also assume that "date" is a typo and that you meant "data" was lost?

What makes you think this might be caused by a registry setting? Or that a registry setting could resolve the problem?

We don't really know the why of it so offering an idea about how to fix it could take some additional discussion.

When you say that you used version 1908, does that refer to a recent update of Windows? Or to a specific version of Access, such as Access 2016 or 2019 or perhaps you have Access as part of an Office 365 account?

By archive Access databases, do you mean mdbs saved under a previous version of Access, e.g. Access 2003?

How do you know that the data has been lost? What basis of comparison was used to identify the loss? Are records corrupted?

Given a bit more detail, someone can start working towards some suggestions.

    Thanks.
