I have the exact same question as posted; however the other thread is locked so I am reposting this question as it was never answered: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice\_o365admin-mso\_security-mso\_o365b/unable-to-edit-label-settings-in-office-365/562e4fbf-ce45-4f14-8805-4d1d6638c233

I am unable to edit this label, how is one to make changes years down the line to an existing label? I would like to add data removal action to this current label but all fields are greyed out and unable to be changed.

    Hi Chris Northman,

This is an expected outcome. You will not be able to modify the greyed out items in the O365 admin centre, as @Ran Gao MSFT mentioned, the retention label is only allowed to changed some properties. You can use the parameters of Set-Compliance Tag cmdlet to modify label in SCC, see: Set-ComplianceTag

It's suggested to submit your feedback in Office 365 Admin UserVoice Forums, so that your idea can be heard by the engineers there and then the back-end team will be able to review. That will be an effective way to help others. Thanks for your patience.

    Best,

    Shawn
