In Word - How can I stop Word doing AUTOMATIC numbering when I am typing a list (e.g. an Agenda)?

Once again, Temilola23 is wasting the time of Mac users by referring them to articles pertaining to Microsoft Office for Windows. In this case, the concept is correct but the instructions cannot be followed on a Mac... To begin with the path specified in step #1 doesn't exist in Mac Word.

When the list initially converts click the AutoCorrect Options button [it has a lightning bolt icon with the letters ABC] & choose Undo Automatic Numbering or use the Undo command [Command+Z].

You could choose Stop Automatically Creating Numbered Lists instead, which turns the feature Off in the AutoCorrect Options Preferences... You'd need to visit the Preferences in order to turn the feature On again at a later time. The feature can be enabled/disabled at any time by going to Tools> AutoCorrect Options > AutoCorrect - AutoFormat As You Type to reverse the status of the Automatic numbered lists check box.
