printing form issue

Split from this thread.

This is still broken as of 29. AUG 2019.

I have tried Firefox, Edge and IE ... none of them work.  The same reported behavior is observed:

  1. The first page shows in both print preview and print.
  2. A second blank page is always there.
  3. Orientation (portrait/landscape) does not impact #1 and #2.
  4. If you scale the document, then more questions are on the first page, albeit at a smaller font.

Please fix this, it's frustrating and web page printing should just work.  As a user, I should be able to print a copy of a survey that I've been asked to fill out.

As an alternative, you could put a "Download as PDF" button and write some Javascript to look at the DOM and render a PDF file.

You already have this feature in your web-based Office apps ... you should make it work in Forms too.  How much work could that be?

Not being able to print is a pretty serious discrepancy ... it should get bumped up in priority in your backlog.

I was specifically trying to print from the survey URL from within a web browser (IE, FF, Edge).  My version of Office should not matter in this case (and I think even on the PC I was using I didn't have Office at that point).  I was not authoring a survey; I was merely trying to save off a hard copy of a survey that I had filled out with the question results.

Thats weird because after Microsoft’s “fix”, none of my users (800+) are having the issue. Have you updated your Office Suite? What version are you on??

    Hi Christopher,

Your are right that it won't involve Office apps when we try printing forms in browser.

I understand the issue happens when you try printing form responses for an individual via opening it in browser>Responses>View results>click the 3 dots>Print response, when the Print dialog window opens, click OK to start printing the form.

Your form has 2 pages but only the first page is printed.

(If there is something I misunderstood, feel free to correct me.)

I have test in Firefox, Edge and IE, I can print the form normally with both 2 pages printed.(my test form has 2 pages)

If it's convenient and possible, you may try using a different network environment then print the form.

I would like to help you do troubleshooting for the issue and want to confirm following information. Thanks a lot for your time and effort.

1.Are you the owner/creator of the form? Or if the owner tries to print the form, does he/she have this issue?

2.Does this issue happen when you print a specific form or all forms?

If you create a test form, fill in the form and submit it, when the response is generated, try printing the form response and check the result.

3.Could you please share screenshots about "The first page shows in both print preview and print. A second blank page is always there."? These would help us have a better understanding of the symptom.

4.How many questions does your form have?

    Best regards,

    Tina

    Dear Christopher,

As similar issues may have different root causes, I suggest you post a new thread on our forum for expert help.
