Microsoft Word: Rewrite function missing

Anonymous

I just updated my office suite, I saw there was a rewrite feature. However, I can't get it to function! I've tried selecting one word, less than 7 words.

Why isn't it working?

The Win 10 version is interesting, but not relevant for this specific problem.

If you look in the link that Suzanne provided it  says that as of August this year the feature has been released to "Monthly Channel (Targeted)".  This is one way that MS controls distribution of features.

In any Office application go to File menu > Account command. Look under the bundle name it will display the "channel" you are on.  If you are not in the designated channel, you won't have the feature, yet.

This article provides an overview of the various channels:

Have you looked at https://blog-insider.office.com/2019/08/12/rewrite-in-word-say-it-another-way/? That's the official poop. There are numerous other articles from third parties, but they don't say much more or different.

Here is an article about rewrite. It says approximately the same thing, who actually gets re-write is random (from our side of the wall), and intermittent.

I have, I still don't understand since I have a subscription to Office 365 through my university.

Edit: I am running Windows 10 Pro version 1809
