Problem with collaborative space section permissions

I am helping to set up a OneNote Class Notebook for 151 students.

There needs to be a section for 25 teams of 6 to 7 students each within the collaborative space, with appropriate permissions that allow only the students in that team to access the section.

I am on a mac, but I am using the online version of OneNote Class Notebook through office 365.

I am using the "manage notebooks" page to attempt to give permission to the correct teams, using "manage section permissions".

However whenever I select the student names, then click save, when I return to the "manage section permissions" - it still shows that all 151 students can access that section, and not only the 6 or 7 I gave permission to.

This method has works for me on a different OneNote Class Notebook that I created myself.

I have tried the fix notebooks link (https://www.onenote.com/classnotebook/notebook-fix) and this has not helped.

Is there anything else I can try? The only reason I can now think of is that I am not the original creator of the OneNote, but I am designated as a teacher, so should have all the same permissions that the owner has.

Many thanks

K

    Hi K,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. From your problem description, when you attempt to give section permission to your students in the class notebook, you can’t assign the permission to 6 or 7 out of 151 students in your class. Based on my test, I go to Manage Notebook page and select Collaboration Space permissions to assign the permissions to 4 students out of 10. Sorry, I don’t have 151student test accounts to assign the permission. However, it seems fine from my side, and all the 4 students with the permission can access that section in Collaboration space.

To further narrow down this issue, can you provide the following information to us?

1: Have you tired switching to a different browser or InPrivate window to change the permissions?

2: Does this issue happen among the other teachers who are managing this notebook? Are they able to assign the permission to all the students?

3: Does this issue happen in all the sections your created in Collaboration Space? You can try creating a new section and see the result. More importantly, you can also create a new test class notebook and assign the permission to your students. Sometimes, the issue could be caused due to the class notebook itself.

    Best regards,

    Dihao
