Mysql database refresh problems in Excel 2019 (Mac)

I added a database query in Excel 2019 for Mac, but when I ran the table, it only displayed three rows of data when it should be displaying 9 (which is the current number of rows ... new data is added every ten minutes to the table).

I am not sure why microsoft excel isn't seeing the new data, it just sees the first three rows. Refreshing does not do anything either. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

    Hi chrispyt,

Does Excel for Mac display all rows now? Do you still need any help?

    Thanks,

    Hi chrispyt,

Very sorry for the delayed reply.

Since you can reproduce this issue via a common connection, this issue may be related to the database or Excel. To confirm if it is related to your database, please create a  new database(with more than three rows) to check if you can view all rows of it.

If this issue happens to newly created databases, could you please share with me more info as below to let me have a clear understanding of your scenario?

    1. A test account and password of your database. (we can test this issue from our side.)
    2. Screenshot of the detailed the version number of your OS(Apple menu>About this Mac) and Word(Word>About Microsoft Word e.g. 16.xx build xx).

To protect your privacy, you can share with me your account and password via**Private Message**.

    Thanks,

    Neo

    Hi chrispyt,

    Thanks for your reply.

However, I need some more time to test this issue and involve more resource about that. I will update this thread once I get any updates. Appreciate your understanding.

    Regards,

    Neo

    Hi,

I do not see any option within Data > Connections > Properties to select all rows of the table. It only lists background refresh, refresh every "" minutes, and refresh data when opening the file. Those are already checked. I also checked in Data > Properties and have "Insert entire rows for new data, clear unused cells" selected.

I deleted the connection, reconnected, ran the table, and returned the data to Excel. It is still only coming up with three rows.

I only have one table/database, so that would be a yes.

    Steps to connect:

    1. Data > New Database Query > From Database
    2. iODBC Data Source Chooser > System DSN > 'nameofsource' (driver: Actual Open Source Databases) > OK
    3. Open up the database > select table > run
      • Only displays three rows of data
    4. Return Data to existing sheet

    Hi chrispyt,

Since you refreshed your connection and Excel still only display three rows of data, not all of them, that means this issue may be related to your data connection settings. Please click Data>Connections and Properties near Refresh to check if you have select all rows of the original table to display.

If you have already chosen all rows to display, to make sure if the data connection is the root cause of this issue, please delete this connection then connect your database again to see the outcome.

Besides, to have a better understanding of your scenario and test this issue, please share with me more info as below:

    1. Does this issue happen to all tables/databases?
    2. Detailed steps to connect your database.

    Thanks,

    Neo
