    I tried it in Word 2013 and got this message:

    I see that the Word 2010 version has OK and Help buttons, whereas this just asks whether the information was helpful. If you click the link, you get this:

    If you click Help in Word 2010, you get this (not very helpful):

    The message is the same in 2010 as in 2013, but the box is different (different options); that was my point.

    Unless this has changed in versions above Word 2013, fractional sizes are limited to half a point (10.5, 11.5, etc.). Publisher can do fractional sizes in tenths.

    You can just enter the size you want in the drop down. Most of the fonts now in use will allow you to do this sort of customization.  You can even do decimal sizes  13.1, 15.5 etc

    When you click the drop down you 'll see that the size is highlighted. Just enter the size you need if it isn't in the drop down list.

    Right you are.  I just tested in Word 2010 and 2016. Both didn't like .1, but did accept .5.

    Unfortunately 2010 handled the error gracefully, with a descriptive error message, while 2016 simply did not accept it, no information why not.  Both Excel 2010 and 2016 handled the issue this way also, not accepting it, but no warning message.

    Funny thing, I'm sure I tested .1 a long time ago, back in a menu version.

    Live and Learn.

    I found this note in my earlier documentation:

    <snip>

    some True Type fonts will allow you select font sizes other than 0.5 pt increments; you’ll have to test the font to see if this is an option

    </snip>

    So obviously I only remembered part of the answer.
