Excel graph format bugs

Hi All

I'm constantly coming up against bugs in excel 2016.

Here is one that I can never fix without deleting the graph and starting again. The datapoint I have selected is an orange X, but i want it to be black, and with a larger width. I've put this in the formatting options on the right but it has not changed. I've selected the data series, and others, and come back to it, but it's stubborn.

Does anyone know how to overcome this bug?

After some seemingly random clicking around, the issue is resolved.

It has now been replaced by another issue. When i change the colour of a single data point, it changes the colour of another random one.

They are both linked for some reason, and now i can't change them independently.
