One Note Dictation Issue

I have been using One Note dictation on my Android Phone for two years, for when I am in the field for taking notes.  It has been working well until 2 weeks ago.  As of that time, when I am speaking, the dictation function stops, and the cursor moves within the page.  It happens very frequently within a page to the point it is not feasible to use the dictation function.  Sometimes, the cursor moves to the middle of a section, and it does not stop the dictations, so then the notes being dictated within that section are all jumbled as the cursor will move between two letters of a word.

I have uninstalled and re-installed One Note Mobile for Android two times with no improvements.  I have used the dictation feature of the Samsung Memo app, as well as talk to text in the text app and they work perfectly (On a side note, even when the One Note dictation is working normal, I have noticed the Samsung Mobile app is much better at recognizing words and not placing capitals on words that typically are not capitalized).

Has anyone else experienced an issue with the One Note dictation function no longer working well and constantly stopping the recording and the cursor moving?

Thanks

    Hi Michael,

I've replicated the same process using the same device manufacturer and did not get the same issue with using voice to create notes. Can you verify if you are also using OneNote 16.0.11601.20100 for Android? To check, go to Settings > About.

You've mentioned that you've tried to use dictation to other apps on your phone and it was working fine. Will it be possible if you can access your OneNote account on a different Android device? This way, we can isolate if it's account related, a problem with the application or the issue is only happening on a specific phone. You may also try using a different OneNote account on the device that you are currently experiencing the issue to help investigate the matter.

In the meantime, I'd recommend resetting your credentials in OneNote to give it a new start. This is just simply signing out and signing back in your account. To do this, please follow the steps provided below:

    1. Open OneNote, tap the menu in the upper-right corner of the screen, and choose Settings.
    2. Tap Account.
    3. Tap Sign Out, and then click OK.
    4. Tap the recent apps button on the bottom of the screen (the one next to your home button), find the OneNote app and swipe it sideways to close it.
    5. Start OneNote and sign in to your account.

For your reference, you may also check on this article regarding creating quick notes using your voice in OneNote.

Please respond to this thread to let me know how the issue progresses. Similarly, if you have more questions, please inform me by replying to this post.
