OneDrive Sync Issue

Hi

We have OneDrive for Business synced PDF files in windows explorer which, when we try to open them, it states that the 'directory name is invalid'. In addition, the location of the file when viewed in file properties begin the location with "\?\C:\Users..." which I presume is not right. Image attached.

The file names themselves when viewed in explorer appear normal. These files also view online correctly, and can be copied to the desktop from file explorer and opened without issue.

I've already tried %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset , and this has not solved the issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Adam,

Sorry for the trouble caused at your end.

As per your description, the problem you’re encountering is strange, where the file path for the content in the OneDrive synced folder should start with the drive you selected during setup. And as you already tried to reset the OneDrive and still the problem persists, we would like to suggest you unlink your account from the PC and re-setup again to check the outcome:

Click on the OneDrive icon in taskbar> More> Settings> Account tab> Unlink this PC> Now open the OneDrive application to setup again.

If the problem persists, can you try uninstalling the OneDrive application and re-install it back to check the outcome.

To uninstall OneDrive application: Open Control Panel> Programs> Programs and Features> Right-click on Microsoft OneDrive> Uninstall.

To reinstall: Refer to this article: OneDrive release notes (Download OneDrive for Windows)

If still the same behavior, can you please let us know this behavior is PDF files or even for Office files? Does this behavior is encountered with any other users in your organization? Moreover, does this problem lies with the specific folder in OneDrive?

Appreciate your understanding.

Best Regards,

Chitrahaas

    Hi,

I unlinked, uninstalled, cleared the file system of onedrive, re-installed and re-synced. It's solved the problem with the ""\?\C:\Users".

    Thank you.
