Auto Refresh SharePoint modern experience Document Library

Anonymous
2019-05-07T14:05:58+00:00

Scenario:

Library with 17000 Documents

the main columns are indexed

The view ist pre filtered by the view definition - under 300 documents

The view is 1 level grouped - the grouping is collapsed by default - there around 30 Groups in the View

Issue:

If a View group is open, the documents will be shown

But every 10 to 15 Seconds the view refreshs und in that moment ca. 1-2 Seconds the documents can not be seen.

Instead "please wait" is written in a line - where the e.g. 20 Entries of documents should be.

Than the documents are shown again - the Grouping is still correct open.

But:

If one or a couple of Documents was selected the selection is forgotten.

As result it is not possible to work proper with the library.

Question: What can be done - that the auto refresh is not killing the selection.

    The Topic is still existing

    --> Modern View

--> Auto Refresh kills selection of Files in View

The autorefresh happens any time a file get updated in the library. Given a Multiuser Scenario with many files ...

it happens in rushhours very often and as result working with the library becomes painful.

i would be happy to get a hint to resolve this Topic.

    Update

We have ident the reason - the view gets updated each time a document inside the library get an save event - e.g. meta data change or file save.

because it is a multi user enviroment it is not really a good situation

It was shown primary on one library.

But i did not investigate if it was only there.

The scenario of Library with 15000 or more Documents and use of modern View - is not very common at the moment in the enterprise.

Because of Migration to O365 from Fileshares, Livelink and physical Files this will be changed in future.

The auto refresh behavior is not any longer - i can not reproduce it today. On the Day it happens it was a behavior change to the weeks before. The selection get not killed after some seconds.

Due to the fact of performance optimization on the tenent (20K users) in the last weeks it may have a correspondence to that or it was related to O365 updates?

your steps looks similar to mine. important could be to have more document than the trashhold and to use indexed columns

    thanks for your help

    UPDATE:

based on Information from other users it at least occured yesterday and it looks like a bit of a random behavior.

    Hi Martin Rosenbery,

According to my test I can't reproduce the issue. Here is my test steps:

    1. I have add some files on a SharePoint Modern library.
    2. The create a view with group by Modified by.
    3. Select some files on the group, my website not auto refresh.

To confirm whether my steps are the same as yours, please tell me if there’s any difference.

To narrow down the issue, may I confirm that whether only the Document Library has the issue or all Document Libraries have the issue?

If you create a new site what's the outcome?

If the issue persists, could you please provide a reproduce video to help us investigate the issue via the private message

    Thanks,

    Clark
