Hello All. I keep receiving the error message " the last time you opened "file.accdb", it accaused a serious error. Do you still want to open it?" Every time I click yes, it proceeds like it will open but it never does. I've waited up to 15 minutes and it never opens. This database file is important to my work. My co-worker uses this same file and she is able to access it. She also has created a backup of it on our drive. Can someone please help me to get this database back working? Thanks!

OK, A split database means storing the tables in a separate back end file that is shared and everything else is stored in a front end file that is loaded on the individual's PC. give a person whose been indicted the right to a lawyer multi-user application needs to be split. Otherwise you are inviting corruption.

What you are encountering is unusual. For one user to encounter corruption and not another is not usual. Yes the easiest way is to use the backup going forward. You also need setup a backup routine to protect your data. And finally I would split the database before continuing to use it.

    Hi Scott,

Yes. We are both using the same version of Access.

Yes. We are accessing the same file in the same location.

I'm not sure what you mean a split application. We both can access the database at the same time to do work so that we are not overwriting each other's work.

No. We do not access it differently.

Yes. I can access the backup file that she created. In your opinion would the simplest solution be to just to use the backup file she created for our daily work activities?

Hi Jco, I'm an independent adviser and will try to help.

Are you both using the same version of Access? Are you sure you are accessing the same file in the same location? Is this a split application? Do you and your co-worker access it differently? Have you tried accessing the backup file she created? Can you access that? It seems odd that the same file is causing problems for only one user.

As you can see we need more info to try to help. Please answer my questions and provide any other info you can think of so we can diagnose this.
