Incorrect name while using shared drive

Question

Hi

I am using sharepoint drive for various document sharing with customer. When I created new microsoft account, it was created with my business email but somehow for profile name, it selected somem random name. So when I open any document / apply any comment, it shows that random name as document owner. I have changes my profile name by login in to MS  account but still it is not updated while using document on sharepoint drive.

Please help !

Hi  Ashish,

The name displayed when you open the file and apply an comment is based on the display name of the account you are logged into Office. So if the display name is still your random name, then the name on comment will not be changed as well both SharePoint and Office client.

However, there is a workaround that you can change the new comment display name via File>Options>General>under Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office>change the User name.

*And this change is only available on new comment, the previous comment display name can't be changed. This feature is not available since Excel 2010 and here are some articles to prove it:

If my understanding of your problem is wrong, please correct me and provide some information for me:

1. You mentioned "When I created new microsoft account, it was created with my business email", do you mean that there are two accounts under your business email? And they are Business account(Work or School account) and Microsoft account?
2. You mentioned "I have changes my profile name by login in to MS  account", where did you change your name?
3. Where do you want to change the comment name? SharePoint Online or Office client(you can open the SharePoint file via Office client application)?
