Hi,

I have used the excel data visualizer template and successfully created a visio process map from it.

However, when i update my excel template file and try to refresh the visio map, i keep receiving the error "Unable to connect to the data."

Hello,

Thanks for your sharing, and I have tested the the file in several versions of Visio on PC.

And it works fine if I create a Data visualizer based on that, but from the file name I noticed you may have created a Cross-Functional Flowchart.

So I suggest you try create a Date visualizer(the one in the first row) instead, which has the same function and also could automatically select data.

Sorry that I could not repro the issue you met, and I send an attachment in PM, please try the file I modified.

If the problem remains, please go to File->Account, and post a screenshot of the Product information page, we would do more tests and investigation based on the info.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Best Regards,

Oliver

    Hello,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue. After seeing your post I did some tests trying to repro the issue you met, and in one case I did it:

In my tests, the error message is caused by the source data busy. Although, sometimes it could work fine without saving the data source file, but when there's data changing inside, it may cause the problem, especially when the source data file is saved in a cloud place like OneDrive.

So I suggest you try copy the source data file(the Excel table) into local place then relink it in Visio, also please save and close Excel before refresh the Diagram in Visio.

For reference, please view this page: Create a Data Visualizer diagram.

What's more, if above dose not match the scenario you met, could you tell me whether the table could be selected automatically when you use Data visualizer Wizard? or you choose a range manually?

I have initiated a PM invitation for you, if the problem remains, you could share the file(the source data) or some details with me via this link.

Thanks for your sharing and please feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

    Have a nice day: )

    Best Regards,

    Oliver
