Qing,

The same error is now happening in Excel version 1902 (Build 11328.20392). Have several folks in our remote locations as well as local users having this issue:

"An issue with the Data Model is preventing Microsoft Excel from opening this Workbook. Try restarting Microsoft Excel."

Pivot table was working normally until the last MS update.

    Hi Maurice,

I did a test from my side in the same Excel version with you, but I didn’t meet this issue.

The Data Model works properly with no error message.

You can try these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Start Excel in safe mode and then check if the issue persists.

Press CTRL key + double click Excel when start Excel. You'll see a popup as below, click Yes button to enter Excel Safe Mode.

    1. I found that someone met the same issue with you in this post, and there’s an answer was confirmed works by the original poster:

If the issue still exists, we’d like to collect some information to further check the scenario:

    1. Does this issue only occur in a specific workbook? How about other workbooks?
    2. Please provide the screenshot of the error message.
    3. Per the situation you mentioned, the file may help us better understand and try to fix the issue. Could you prepare and upload an example file you mentioned with no confidential/ sensitive data to OneDrive, then share the link to me via PM? I'd like to have a test from my side.

    Best regards,

    Madoc

    Hi Maurice,

I’m so sorry that you couldn’t upload files due to HIPAA.

And I’d like to know have you tried the steps I mentioned? How’s the result?

    Best regards,

    Madoc
