It is virtually the same in Word 365.  When you have the selection in a table, two tabs - Table Design and Layout will appear in the ribbon and on the Layout tab there is a Data section that includes the Convert to Text facility as shown below:

I do note that via recent update, the "Table Tools" no longer appears above those tabs and, depending upon the space available on the ribbon, the buttons may be laid out in a different manner

And, in the case of there being very little screen real estate, it may be necessary the click on what then appears as a Data dropdown, to see the commands that are available

    Hi Jack

Convert text to a table or a table to text for your reference.

    Regards,

    Eric

Select the table. On the Layout tab of the Table Tools contextual tab, in the Data group (far right), click Convert to Text.

Suzanne, thanks for the replay.  However, the answer doesn't seem to line up with my Word document options in Office 365.

Clicking on layout or table, there is nothing about data group or convert to text.

For example, under table tab: select, delete, insert, align, mere, split, table grid, colors, style, shading and alt text.

Converting table to text in older word documents was easy. I can't figure out how to do this in Office 365 word.

Here's what I see in Word 2013. Perhaps it's changed in later versions?
