Cannot select Excel app from 'open with' menu

Question

I am trying to select Excel as the default app to open .mhtml files but I cannot select it from the "open with' menu. I also cannot find the exe file on the PC.

I am running Windows 10 with O365 Business.

First, we want to confirm are you install Office in your PC windows 10 from Microsoft store, if yes then you can find Office app via this location folder “**C:\Program Files\WindowsApps”**and see the result. Please notice that accessing this folder need windows user account permission. If you still cannot access it, we suggest you use the best practice to install Office 365 via Office 365 for business home page portal.

And after that, you can find the Excel .exe file via this location below.

For 32-bit Office, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16.

For 64-bit Office, go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16.

Hi Waqas,

I did not have a C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\ folder so I reinstalled from the O365 Business Home page and could then find the executable in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your response. 

The Excel.exe search returned no results. Please note that Excel and Word etc are installed as apps rather than programs.

I also cannot find Excel listed there after clicking Open with > More apps. Only Word app.

I agree in this case we need to manually point to the excel exe file location in order to associate it. By clicking "Look for another app..."

You can type "excel.exe" (Not Excel, which may bring you to the shortcut path) and right click it > Open File location > Choose the exe file.
