OneNote audio reccoding not playing back only when my laptop connects to my headphones

I have been using OneNote for a long time now to record my lectures and then listen to them later. I recently changed my computer to a surface book 2. After having recorded in class yesterday I was able to listen to my notes by playing them back from the speakers of the laptop but once I connect my Bluetooth headphones, it stops being able to playback the audio and instead gives me these messages. As soon as I disconnect the headphones it starts to work again.

Why is this issue happening and what can I do to fix it?

    Hello Sukie,

My name is Curtis and I am the exact same position as Kervok. I took the time to read the full transcript above. I followed all the steps mentioned and at every stage, my answers are the same as those provided by Kervok. I have also taken the time to look at other forums. It seems this is a persistent issue that is localized with regard to OneNote for Windows 10 clients.

It is worth noting that if you right-click on the audio folder and click on file >  open. This causes the audio to play via groove music. When this is done playback is achieved. If one desires to simply listen to the audio this is a bandaid solution. However, if one wishes to hear the audio through the OneNote client in order to have access to note audio synchronization this solution is not practical for said individual, which is my case.

The issue: Audio files recorded and saved on OneNote for windows 10 display the following error messages only when playback is done while a Bluetooth audio output is being used :

    1. OneNote can not start audio playback. ;
    2. we had a problem trying to record or play audio and won't be able to do it.

This problem seems to affect all users and seems to because by the client itself.

Please continue with me where you left off with Kevork.

    Hi Kevork,

Thank you for posting back and providing the information.

Based on your description, it seems that you have tried all suggestions I provided above and they don’t work. And it seems that all notebooks have the same problem, even if you create a new notebook, this problem still persists. And you can play the other audio file normally.

May I know if my understanding is correct? If so, to narrow down this issue is related to OneNote client, we’d suggest you go to OneNote Online to play a audio in OneNote notebook to check if the same problem will occur.

At the same time, you can also try the suggestions below to check if they can help you solve the problem.

    1. Please backup all your notebooks before you do this action, you can go to Windows > Settings > Apps > OneNote for Windows 10 > Advanced options > click uninstall, then you can reinstall OneNote to check if the same problem will occur.
    2. If the suggestions above don’t work, we’d suggest you create a new user profile in Windows to check if the same problem will occur.

    Best Regards,

    Sukie

Hi Sukie, thank you for your reply, yes, your assumptions were correct and I tried the above fixes. Unfortunately, they did not correct the issue.

Here is the information you asked for:

    1. The version of OneNote: 16001.12325.20040.0
    2. Yes they all do
    3. No, the same problem does not occur with other audio files.
