Hi chadposey,

We appreciate that you posted back and confirmed the information with us.

May I know if you have tried the suggestion I provided above? If not, you can go to click the Start menu > Type Credential Manager > Under Windows Credentials, clear off all credentials underneath of Generic Credentials and then restart your computer. Then you can sign in OneNote with the correct account to check if the same problem will occur.

At the same time, we have searched a lot according to the error message you provided, we have found a related article: HTTP Error 407 Proxy authentication required

Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology.

In the meantime, could you provide the information below to help us troubleshoot this issue?

  1. According to your description, it seems that you are using OneNote for Windows 10, if so, please go to OneNote for Windows 10 > Settings > About to provide the screenshot of OneNote version.
  2. Please also go to OneNote Online to check if you can access the notebooks, if so, you can Open in app to check if the same problem will occur.

Best Regards,

Sukie

Still having the issues. Below are the answers to your questions.

May I know if you are using OneNote for Windows 10? YES If so,  you can go to Settings > About and provide the screenshot of it. If you are using OneNote for Mac, you can go to OneNote > About OneNote to provide the screenshot of it.

May I know if all notebooks have the same problem? You can create a new notebook to check if the same problem will occur. Yes they all have the same problem and I have also created a new book and it has the same issues.

Could you provide the screenshot of error message?

We need the password to sync this notebook. (Error code: 0x803D001A) There was an error communicating with the endpoint at 'https://docs.live.net/skydocsservice.svc'.; The server returned HTTP status code '407 (0x197)' with text 'Proxy Authentication Required'.; The proxy requires HTTP authentication scheme 'NTLM'.

    Hi chadposey,

Thank you for your message in this forum.

According to the error message you provided, we’d suggest you try the suggestions below and hope that will help you: (Please backup all notebooks before doing those actions)

May I know if you are using OneNote for Mac or OneNote for Windows?

If you are using OneNote for Windows 10, you can go to click the Start menu > Type Credential Manager > Under Windows Credentials, clear off all credentials underneath of Generic Credentials and then restart your computer. Then you can sign in OneNote with the correct account to check if the same problem will occur.

If you are using OneNote for Mac, you can sign out and quit all Office applications. > Go to Finder>Applications>Utilities>Keychain Access and remove the following password entries: Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2 > Search for all occurrences of ADAL in the keychain and remove all those entries if present.   Restart Mac, open Office and sign in again.

If the suggestion above doesn’t work, you can also go to OneNote Online to check if you can access the notebook. If so, you can Open in app to check if the same problem will occur.

If the problem persists, I want to confirm the information below with you:

    1. May I know if you are using OneNote for Windows 10? If so,  you can go to Settings > About and provide the screenshot of it. If you are using OneNote for Mac, you can go to OneNote > About OneNote to provide the screenshot of it.
    2. May I know if all notebooks have the same problem? You can create a new notebook to check if the same problem will occur.
    3. Could you provide the screenshot of error message?

    Best Regards,

    Sukie
