HideFromAddressLists attribute not syncing in hybrid configuration

Hello,

I have hybrid configuration. When i change the "HiddenFromAddressLists" attribute to a user from AD, the attribute doesn't sync to O365. From on-prem Exchange management powershell i can see that the attribute for the on-prem user is "false", but when i connect to Exchange online using Microsoft Exchange Online Powershell module, i can see that for the O365 user, the attribute is "true". From AAD Connect i can see that the synchronization is being successfully completed between the two object.

Did someone experienced this issue and how did u fix it?

Best regards,

Stoyan

Hello, Alan,

The issue was affecting all disabled users that has inactive mailboxes and "Hide from address list" check in on-prem Exchange.

We have found a workaround for this users.

  1. We have created a OU which doesn't synchronize with O365.
  2. Moved the users in the newly created OU.
  3. Forced a sync and the users in the OU were deleted and went in recycle bin in O365.
  4. Restored the users from recycle bin.
  5. Uncheck "Hide from address list"
  6. Enable sync (return the users to their original OU).

    Hi Stoyan,

    Thanks for your update.

My understanding is that the original "not synchronization of Hide from address list" was affected that the users don't have a active mailbox. Then they do not have the related Exchange Attributes (ie, address list). Anyway, your sharing on this scenario should benefit other users who meet the similar case. Please be noted that you are welcome to continue to post in our forum in the future.

    Have a nice day.

    Regards,

    Alan

    Hi Stoyan,

Glad to reply to your post here.

For your scenario, I'd like to know whether the issue persists with some specific user or any other users. For example, you can try with another test user to check the result.

For this affected user, please firstly re-confirm whether it is helpful if you force the AAD Connect to sync again. In addition, I have researched and found a similar case and the resolution described in https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/8ef659e8-da58-4c5e-acad-2799f4b864c2/msexchhidefromaddresslists-attribute-isnt-syncing-across-to-azure?forum=WindowsAzureAD

If the issue persists, please provide the complete PowerShell putputs of "HiddenFromAddressLists" attribute for that user from both Exchange On-premises and Exchange Online so that I can check it further. For protecting your privacy, you can provide 2 screenshots of the outputs in the Private Message (PM)

    Regards,

    Alan

    Hi StoyanRahnev,

This forum is targeted to end-users, not admin issues and while we can answer some admin questions, the TechNet forums are better suited to admin questions, especially involving on-prem. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/
