Field type changes from SharePoint to Access

I am trying to link a SharePoint list to Access so that I can load data in bulk into an existing SharePoint list. (Copy and paste in "quick edit" does not work. When I try to link a SharePoint list to Access, the field type changes and cannot be changed back. The SharePoint field is a lookup that contains text. When the Access table is created, the same field is listed as Numeric. Therefore the Access field will not accept the appropriate data. Since the Access table is connected to SharePoint, I cannot change the field type within Access. Any help resolving this would be appreciated or if there are other suggestions to load a lot of data into SharePoint at once (Quick edit stopped working last month for any amount of data more than a few rows).

Hi Christopher,

Based on your post, I tested on my end by linking SharePoint online list with Access. The column in Access appears same as the list in SharePoint.

Could you please provide information in detail about your list in SharePoint with some related screenshot? This will help us understand the issue better and we will be able to test with the correct information.

In addition, please provide the following information:

  1. You mentioned “When the Access table is created, the same field is listed as Numeric.” How did you check if the filed is numeric in Access?
  2. Please provide the screenshot of Office 365 Product Information. To get this screenshot, open any Access on your computer, click File>Account, capture the screenshot of all the information mentioned under Product Information.
  3. For the test purpose, create a simple list and then link it with Access, check if field name changes again.

Thanks,

Neha
